We Are Still Here

Walking through the streets of DC, yes, you see the construction of new luxury apartments and the popping up of beer gardens. Hundreds of predominately white DC workers flood the streets on their way to various Happy Hours. There is without a doubt a serious case of gentrification in the U street corridor. However, there is something that people forget to mention, there are also voices screaming and shouting against the phenomenon sweeping across historically black areas of DC. These photos show the street scene and their voices/works against discrimination.

Maya Moore, a student of Howard University, lives to highlight the cultures of melanated people everywhere.
