"I was rather obsessed with Barbies as a young girl and it was a confusing passion for someone also interested in both De La Soul and the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, but I read this book dozens of times and referenced it on more than one occasion as I wrote papers about the impact of Barbie as a cultural icon in elementary school, high school and college. On some level I have always been fascinated about the history of culture, Barbie included.
